How WebSitePulse Works

WebSitePulse is a web-based monitoring service that keeps a constant watch over your web site 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks per year. When it detects that your web site is not responding, it will send notifications to you at all of your designated "contacts" for that site. WebSitePulse monitors your site using the same technology as a common web browser. Every 3 minutes we automatically try to visit your web site to determine if it is accessible to your visitors. In the event the site does not load properly or responds excessively slow, it will be considered as being down and you are immediately notified by email of the problem. Each site you monitor may have a different contact list assigned. Notification can be accomplished to each designated contact by email, cellular pager or telephone. You can define the interval of time which our monitoring service will wait for a response before it reports that the monitored site and server is unavailable.

WebSitePulse maintains a complete history of your web sites activity which is available to you at any time by logging into your account.

Ensure your site is available when your customers need to find you or they'll be looking for your competitors. Subscribe to WebSitePulse - the most advanced and accurate monitoring service in the industry today.

WebSitePulse will be watching!

The following steps describe how to use our service.

1. Select the plan that best fits your needs.

2. Sign up for a monitoring account through the WebSitePulse website.

3. Activate your account via a link in the confirmation email sent to the the email address you designate.

4. Web hosts are entered and the appropriate type of monitoring service is selected for each. WebSitePulse can monitor many different protocols, including: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP and POP3. You can also define a custom server port to monitor - we will check it on protocol level to ensure that the service on the specified port is not refusing connections.

5. Monitoring begins automatically at the specified interval once you enter the host information into our database. The intervals between monitoring events can range from as little as 3 minutes to as much as 24 hours.

We monitor your site from different geographic locations within the United States and abroad. This ensures that a local outage in one region of the U.S.A. will not produce a false alert. Every error is confirmed by at least one different monitoring location to eliminate alerts for short-term problems and problems with our monitoring locations. Monitoring from more than one location allows you to specify an additional level of protection from false alerts - our service can be configured to send alerts only if all our locations report an error to isolate regional problems. Currently we maintain 20 different geographic locations.

If a test indicates that the target is unavailable, then a second test is initiated through a different location to verify the accuracy and results.
If the second test is unsuccessful, then a third test is initiated through a third location.

If all completed attempts indicate the target server as unavailable, we can say with a great deal of confidence that your domain and server are not accessible to your visitors. Notifications are then immediately forwarded to those contacts you have designated.

These notifications can be received in several different ways. WebSitePulse currently supports e-mail, SMS, pager and phone alerts.

You are also provided with real time reports. Reports that are easy to understand and evaluate, allowing you to determine in detail the website's performance.
These are some of the reports available:

1. Daily Log
Shows the complete monitoring log for all checks made during a selected day.
2. Weekly log
Shows summarized day by day results for the monitoring tests made during a seven days period.
3. Monthly Log
Shows summarized day by day monitoring results. Includes the total number of test performed, the number of detected failures, average response time, PING statistics (if applicable).
4. Daily Error Log
Shows only the errors that were detected during the day
5. Monthly Uptime Statistics
Provides you with monthly uptime and response time stats.
6. Event Log
Shows all problems that were detected and the alerts that were sent to your notification contacts.

Some of these reports are available by email.

These reports give users and managers third party information to take to their ISP or hosting facility to demand better service.

WebSitePulse will make your Life just a bit less Stressful!
